Mary K. McGuire, 81, of Marion, formerly of Sioux City, passed from this life on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, at Emery Place in Robins. A visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Mary's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Committal services will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City. The family will also greet friends Thursday evening at Mike's on Hamilton in Sioux City.
Mary is survived by her children, Dr. Chuck (Nancy) McGuire of Wichita, Kan., Kathy (Craig Burkhart) McGuire of Woodside, Calif., Bill (Terri) McGuire of Sammamish, Wash., and Colleen (Mark) Daniels of Robins; her grandchildren, Michael McGuire, Ann McGuire, Lisa (J.J.) Croteau, Michelle McGuire, Zachary Daniels and Caitlynn Daniels; and one great-grandson, James Croteau.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cleo; and brother, William Brennan.
Mary was born June 11, 1935, in Waterloo, the daughter of William and Violet (Cardine) Brennan. On Dec. 29, 1956, she was united in marriage to Cleo McGuire. Mary was employed as a registered nurse with Marian Health Center (formerly St. Vincent Hospital) in Sioux City, until she retired in 1997. Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. She was also a member of P.E.O. Chapter K.J., of which Mary served as president. Mary was all about love, serving God and bringing whatever light she could bring to brighten someone else's day. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that any memorial contributions be made to either St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion or Carmelite Nuns in Sioux City.
