Wessel, Donna Mae
Donna Mae Wessel, 79, passed away Feb. 23, 2013, at Central Community Hospital following a long battle with cancer.
Donna Mae Tieden was born to Don and Ronella (Larson) Tieden on March 8, 1933. She was raised on the family farm in rural Communia, Iowa, and graduated from Elkader High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Carl Irving Wessel on May 2, 1954. Carl and Donna raised three children together while farming the same farm that Donna grew up on.
Throughout her life Donna was an active member of Peace United Church of Christ and the Central Boosters. She enjoyed working at Moser's Pharmacy and going on “mystery trips” with her husband, Carl. Donna was an avid sports fan; she especially enjoyed cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and Central Warriors. More than anything else, Donna enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Donna is survived by her husband, Carl; children, Jane (John) Metcalf of Elkader, Alane (Roger) Swales of Strawberry Point and Greg (Angela) Wessel of Waverly; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and countless friends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
