JOHN LAWRENCE Anamosa John Lawrence, 30, of Anamosa, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Central City, by the Most Rev. Richard E. Pates, bishop of the Diocese of Des Moines. The family will greet friends from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at the church, where a Scripture service will begin at 3:30 p.m. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery in Prairieburg. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City. Survivors include his mother, Denise Lawrence of Anamosa; his brother, Michael Lawrence and his fiancee, Abby Moore, of Eagan, Minn.; his grandmother, Marilyn Lloyd of Prairieburg; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, C.W. Lawrence; his godfather, Cyril Lawrence; his uncle, Clem Lawrence; and his cousin, Lee Lawrence. John was born Oct. 20, 1984, the son of Claret C.W. and Denise (Lloyd) Lawrence in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Monticello High School in 2004 and from Iowa State University in 2009. John then worked as a CPA at McGladrey in Des Moines. In January 2013, he began studying to be a priest at St. Paul School of Divinity Seminary through the Diocese of Des Moines. John had many interests, including sports, card playing, traveling and fantasy football. His life was centered with his family and friends.
