D'Angelo, Nicola
Nicola D'Angelo, 78, of Iowa City, died of cancer Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City. A reception for his family and friends will follow in the parish hall of the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his memory to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Oaknoll Foundation, or Iowa Right to Life.

Sunday parking ordinance will be in effect for the streets near the church for those attending the services and reception.
Nicola D'Angelo was born and raised in Italy. After receiving his doctor's degree in physics from the University of Rome in 1953, he came to this country and worked at Argonne National Laboratory from 1955-59. After that he worked at Princeton University Plasma Physics Laboratory from 1959-66. He then went back to Europe, working in Denmark and Italy from 1966-76. Nicola returned to this country in 1976 as professor of physics in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Iowa until his retirement in 2006.
He is survived by his wife, Else; his sister, Paola (Aldo); his brothers, Raniero and Alberto (Leda); their three children, Nicola, Sara and Stefano; and Nicola's beloved dog, Molly.
