Smith, Isabel Selden
Isabel Selden Smith, 96, of The Meth-Wick Community, died there Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, by the Rev. Bill Warhover of Echo Hill Presbyterian Church. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her children, Thomas (Karen) Smith of West Chester, Pa., and Laura (Tom) Rempe of Marion; a brother, Marvin R. Selden Jr. of Des Moines; sisters, Primrose Jackson of Okoboji and Anne Miehe of Milwaukee, Wis.; grandchildren, Matthew (Jennifer) Smith, Andrew Smith, Jennifer Smith, Seth Ray, Tobias (Brittany) Ray and Kaleb Ray; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Samuel Selden.
Isabel was born Jan. 27, 1915, in Cedar Rapids, to Marvin and Rose (Ferguson) Selden. She married James D. Smith there on April 18, 1941. She attended Frances Shimer College in Mount Carroll, Ill., and Coe College in Cedar Rapids. Isabel was a member of PEO Chapter KK, Chi Omega Sorority, and Echo Hill Presbyterian Church.
Memorials may be directed to Echo Hill Presbyterian Church for its visitation ministry.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Meth-Wick Community and Hospice of Mercy for the loving care and support of Isabel.
