Dale Allen Karsten Jr., 57, of Marengo, died at his home Wednesday, July 6, 2011. Graveside memorial services: 11 a.m. Thursday, July 14, at the Marengo Cemetery, with the Rev. Katie Dawson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo.

A memorial fund has been established.

Dale is survived by his daughters, Allison Schlabach and husband Travis of Marengo and Cara Stoddard and husband Seth of Waverly, Neb.; six grandchildren, Ashlea and Austin Schlabach of Marengo and Noah, Owen, Aiden and Asher Stoddard of Waverly, Neb.; and his mother, Mary Karsten of Marengo. Also surviving are his siblings, David “Nate” Karsten of Marengo, Denny Karsten (Holly) of Blairstown and Deanne Kinzenbaw (Doug) of Marengo.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Dale Allen Karsten Jr. was born Feb. 23, 1954, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Dale Karsten Sr. and Mary Ellen (Walter) Karsten. He graduated from Iowa Valley High School with the class of 1972. During his working career, Dale had been employed as a sales representative for various food manufacturing companies. He enjoyed golfing in his leisure time.
