Seth, Dr. Suren
Dr. Suren Seth, 68, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at his home following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where friends may call after 11 a.m. The Rev. Ed Moreano will officiate at the services.
Surviving are two children, Ryan of Cedar Rapids and Alexis of Manchester; four sisters and two brothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Suren Kumar Seth was born Sept. 18, 1944, in Nairobi, Kenya. He was the son of Anand and Susheila Vati Seth. He received his primary education in Nairobi and then continued his education in France, where he attended medical school. He retuned to Kenya, where he completed his OB-GYN specialty. Suren completed his Family Practice residency at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Ill. He worked as a family practice physician in Clinton, Iowa, Peoria, Ill., and Hampton, Iowa, before moving to Monticello in 1991. He operated Monticello Family Practice until he retired in 2003. Suren then worked as a rotation doctor at the Fairfield and Mount Pleasant hospitals for several years.
Suren had been a member of the Monticello Rotary Club, the Doubling Dozens Bridge Club and the Monticello Golf Club.
