Kaufmann, James Francis
James Francis Kaufmann, 74, of Arlington, Texas, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010, in Arlington. Memorial Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1200 S. Davis Dr., Arlington, with Father Jim Gigliotti, T.O.R. officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a private family rosary beginning at 6 p.m., at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Pkwy., Arlington.
James was born Feb. 13, 1936, in Cedar Falls, Iowa to Charles and Helen (Hughes) Kaufmann. He graduated from St. Patrick High School in Cedar Rapids in 1954. James graduated in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical engineering from St. Louis University/Parks College. He married Carol Kay Colip on June 16, 1956, at St. Patrick Church in Cedar Rapids. James worked with Vought/LTV for 30 years and retired in 1993. He was extremely involved with the Vought Retirees Association restoring aircraft. James loved the aviation industry and was a member of SAE and SERRA Club.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Carol Kay Kaufmann; sons, Jeff Kaufmann and wife Tracy of Denver, Colo., Doug Kaufmann and wife Annette of Pleasant Hill, Calif., Matt Kaufmann and wife Lori of Keller, Texas John Kaufmann and wife Jessica of Arlington, Texas,Zach Kaufmann and wife Noel of Louisville, Ky.; daughter, Jennifer Redding and husband Wayne of Whitney, Texas; sister, Jane Bascon of Orlando, Fla.; grandchildren, Megan and Charlie Kaufmann, Kyle and Ryan Kaufmann, Cody and Kayla Kaufmann, Adrienne and McKenzie Kaufmann, Christopher Kaufmann, Alexandra and Samantha Redding; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
