Watkins, Roy Michael
Roy Michael Watkins, 70, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013 in Tulsa.
Memorial service: 1 p.m. Friday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, Texas.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cook Children's Medical Center at or 682-885-4105.
Mike was born March 30, 1942, in Fort Worth, Texas, to R.G. and Imogene Watkins. He grew up in Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School in 1960. He received his Bachelor's and Master's from Texas A&M University and a Ph.D. in Nutrition from Mississippi State University.
During his career, Mike was an Associate Professor at Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, Texas, served as Director of Tech Service at Diamond V Mills, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was Nutritionist for Dairy Manufacturers, Inc., Prosper, Texas, and was most recently the Ruminant Technical Service Manager at Biomin America, San Antonio, Texas.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the good samaritan E.R. doctor on the airplane and to the professional staff of the CVICU at St. John's Medical Center, Tulsa.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors: wife, Judith C. Watkins; sons, Michael Scott Watkins and wife, Patricia, and Charles Walker Watkins; stepsons, Matthew J. Hay and wife, Michele, and Mark Alan Hay and wife, Melinda; brother, Kenneth Watkins and wife, Bonnie; sister, Sandra Greenwood and husband, James; grandchildren, Joseph, Alexanne, Emily, and Madison; mother of their two sons, Kay Watkins; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
