Lorna's life journey began on Aug. 16, 1925, in Cedar County, Iowa, where she was born to Frederich and Wilhelmina (Brockmeyer) Helmold. Lorna attended school at Rosette No. 6, Springfield Township. She married the love of her life, the late Walter Seebeck, in 1945, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bennett. They resided in rural Cedar County, where they raised their four daughters, Ilaina, Sonya, Marita and Kay.
Lorna was a devoted mother, wife and homemaker. For a few years, she was a seasonal employee with Pioneer Seed. Her passion was undoubtedly her creativity putting the needle and thread to work being a seamstress. From Easter and wedding dresses to quilts and curtains, Lorna stitched some beautiful memories. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary and altar guild.
Surviving Lorna are her four daughters, Ilaina (Larry) Hein of Bennett, Sonya (Darryl) Gilbert of Wilton, Marita (James) Stahle of Tipton and Kay (Michael) August of New Liberty; grandchildren, Mark, Ryan, Shanon, Tresha, Chris, Lynn, Lyle, Laurie, Jon, Anita, Rita, Chad, Jenna and Brandon; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Lorna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Hulda, Paula, Erna and Arline; brother, Harold; grandson, Kevin; granddaughter, infant Stahle; and son-in-law, Timothy Gutierrez.
