Ruby M. Cerny, 92, of Lone Tree, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Pioneer Park in Lone Tree. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 5, at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 5, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Lone Tree American Legion Auxiliary in memory of Ruby. Ruby M. Prymek was born on Oct. 23, 1925, in Richmond, Iowa, the daughter of Henry Frank and Clara (Dvorak) Prymek. She was a 1944 graduate of Riverside Public High School. On Sept. 4, 1947, Ruby was united in marriage to Donald DeWayne Cerny in Iowa City. She was a homemaker. Ruby was a member of the Rebekahs Lodge and the Lone Tree American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed going to lodge meetings, scrapbooking and journal writing. She also had a green thumb, growing many things.
Ruby will be deeply missed by her son, Steve (Dee) Cerny of Riverside; daughter, Shirley Cerny-Wood of Tupelo, Miss.; four grandchildren, Andy (Rachel) Cerny of Riverside, Angela (Joel) Hazelett of Ainsworth, and Jake Wood and Kelly (Jacob) Redd, both of Tupelo, Miss.; and four great-granddaughters, Kayla Cerny, Kelsi Cerny, Halle Hazelett and Brena Hazelett.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Floyd Prymek.
