Gorgone, Mutsuko
Memorial services for Mutsuko Gorgone will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at Vineyard Community Church, 2205 E. Grantview Dr., Coralville. Mutsuko died Wednesday, March 2, 2011. Arrangements are with Lensing's Oak Hill Funeral Service, Coralville.
In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to Friends of the Animal Center Foundation, Iowa City.
Mutsuko was born Feb. 29, 1964, in Miyakojima, Japan, the daughter of Seiryo and Yoko Ikema Shimoji. On March 20, 1989, Mutsuko married James Gorgone in Okinawa, Japan, where he was serving in the military. After having lived in New Hampshire for nine years, she and her family relocated to Coralville in 2004.
Mutsuko had been employed at the New Pioneer Coop of Coralville. She enjoyed taking care of her adoring dogs, Andy and Winston, and loved spending time with her many friends, especially over a warm cup of coffee.
She was a warm, beloved woman who always put her family before herself.
She is survived by her husband, James, and their two children, Amy and Justin, all of Coralville; her mother, Yoko of Japan; and three sisters, Ikue of North Carolina, and Saori and Yumiko, both of Japan.
She was preceded in death by her father.
