Vance O. Faulkner, 64, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. A memorial service celebrating Vance's life will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at New Covenant Bible Church, 3090 N. Center Point Rd., Cedar Rapids, with Pastor Gary Deaville officiating. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Vicky; children, Scott (Janice Svejda) Faulkner of Cedar Rapids, Mike (Ashlea) Faulkner of Cedar Rapids and Michelle Zeeshan of Churchill, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandson; mother, Bernice Faulkner of Cedar Rapids; and brothers, Randy (Cathy) Faulkner, Dean Faulkner and Archie Faulkner, all of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his father; grandson, Zachary; and brother, Steve.
Vance Odin Faulkner was born Nov. 27, 1949, in Miami Beach, Fla., the son of Dean and Bernice Faulkner. On July 15, 2000, he married Vicky Heeren in Solon, Iowa. Vance and Vicky owned and operated V&V Enterprises for many years.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, was an avid Hawkeye fan and enjoyed the races at Knoxville Speedway. Vance was an awesome cook and enjoyed cooking for others and others enjoyed his cooking.
He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
The family would like to especially thank the doctors and nurses at St. Luke's Cardiac Care Unit for all the care, kind words and compassion shown toward Vance and the family.
