Herchelle D. "Tony" Bales, 80, of Marion, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at New Covenant Bible Church, where friends may visit with the family after 9:30 a.m. Monday. Inurn-ment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy; two daughters, Paula (Richard) Waite of Eldon and Pamela (Matthew) Waddell of Marion; and a brother, Jerry of Great Falls, Mont. He also is survived by three grandchildren, Kathryn and Micah Waddell and Allen Waite.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Johnson and JoAnn Myers.
Tony was born Nov. 16, 1934, in Adel, the son of Herchelle and Martha Sell Bales. He married Lucy A. Olson on Aug. 1, 1964, in Mitchellville.
Tony was an engineer lab manager at Rockwell, retiring in 1992 after 33 years of service.
He was a faithful member of New Covenant Bible Church and proudly served in the Marine Corps.
Tony enjoyed model railroads, travel with his wife, Lucy, having coffee with his friends, and especially the time spent with his beloved family. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Mission of Hope.
