Donald A. Dean, 85, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital. Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded and a private inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Donald was born Nov. 18, 1932, the son of Donald Sr. and Matilda (Krizek) Dean. He graduated from Marion High School in 1951. He then joined the Navy on Dec. 12, 1951, and served until Dec. 6, 1955. Donald married the love of his life, Darlene Janko, on Dec. 31, 1953, and they shared many memories together until her passing in 2014. He worked at the Iowa Department of Transportation for 42 years as a supervisor of maintenance. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and traveling with Darlene.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife; son, Donald D. Dean; brother, Lee Roy Dean; and his parents.
Left to cherish Junior's memories are many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Throughout the years that Donald and Darlene spent together they would frequently send donations to Camp Courageous as gifts for family birthdays. To honor their life, any donations may be made to Camp Courageous.
