Michael Allen Olson, 63, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City because of injuries suffered in an accident. Per his request, there will be no services or visitation. A celebration of Michael's life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites were entrusted by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Michael is survived by his wife of 40 years, Gloria J. Olson; three children, Ami Olson, Cara (Kel) Anderson and Ian Olson, all of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Jon, Noah and Jaxsyn; four siblings, Stacey (Kevin) Bowden of Cedar Rapids, Patrice (Richard) Terry of Glenwood, Lisa (Kent) Bowden of Cedar Rapids and Lorri Hutchcroft of Council Bluffs; a brother-in-law, Joe Hutchcroft of Cedar Rapids; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Thomas E. Olson.
Michael was born Feb. 17, 1954, to Emil and Doris (Smittkamp) Olson in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Michael graduated from Washington High School. He was united in marriage to the love of his life and best friend, Gloria Jean Vogel, in Cedar Rapids on May 13, 1977. They proudly raised three children. He worked in the factory industry for much of his career.
Michael enjoyed camping, fishing, relaxing motorcycle rides and just tinkering around outside. He loved music and often went to support a few of his bands, including The FossilTones and The Evan Stock Band. Michael especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His kind, fun-loving spirit, generous heart, great stories and big smile will be missed by many.

The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He was given exceptional care. He will be missed by his many friends and family.
