Borst, Joann Darlene

Joann Darlene Borst, 57, of Marion, died Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Memorial Service: 7 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, where family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m.

Survivors include her husband, Dan; six children, Todd (Jamee) Holland of Saukville, Wis., Chad (Sandra) Cleppe of Cedar Rapids, Brian (Rachael) Borst of Los Angeles, Calif., Justin (Alicia Rock) Cleppe of Cedar Rapids, Chad (Heidi Messinger) Borst of Toledo, Ohio, and Eric Borst of Marion; seven grandchildren, Michael, Tony, Tera, Jordan, Tyler, Aaron and Savannah; two sisters, Jerri (Steve) Olsen of Cedar Rapids, and Lori (Jim) McGaffic of Marion; two brothers, Ed Tipton of Missouri, and Steve (Joy) Tipton of Marion; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, Spenser.

Joann was born Jan. 12, 1954, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Carl and Marlene (Novotny) Tipton. In 1985, she was united in marriage to Dan Borst at Thomas Park in Marion.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, 315 18th Ave., Hiawatha, IA 52233, in Joann's memory.
