Wartburg’s Utley named IIAC baseball position player of year

Former Cedar Rapids Prairie prep D.J. Utley has been named the Iowa Conference's baseball Position Player of the Year, the IIAC announced Wednesday.
The junior first baseman from Wartburg led the conference in on-base percentage and home runs and ranked second in batting average (.407) and slugging percentage. He also ranked third in doubles and total bases, was fourth in RBIs and seventh in hits.
Buena Vista senior Jon Ringblom was named the IIAC's Pitcher of the Year. He went 7-2 with a 1.14 earned run average in 10 appearances.
BV's Steve Eddie was named Coach of the Year. He led the Beavers to a school-record 36 victories.
