Sostak, Gerald R. 'Jerry'
Gerald R. “Jerry” Sostak, 77, of Laurie, Mo., passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Mo.
He was born June 16, 1935, in Willow River, Minn., a son of the late Jerry E. and Albina Prachar Sostak. On June 2, 1956, in Askov, Minn., he was united in marriage to Ione Christopherson.
Jerry was employed by Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids as an electrical engineer for several years until his retirement.
He was a member of the Osage Community Elks Lodge 2705 in Laurie. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his yard, working on various home improvement projects, woodworking, reading, restoring old tractors and was an avid collector of John Deere toys.
In addition to his wife, Ione, of 57 years, he is survived by his sons, Bruce Sostak of Plano, Texas, Dennis Sostak and wife Tami of Askov, Minn., and Tim Sostak and wife Julie of St. Charles, Mo.; daughters, Emmy Hopkins and husband Barry of Solon and Mary Jones of Harriman, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Sostak.
A celebration of Jerry's life will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at the Osage Community Elks Lodge 2705 in Laurie, Mo. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Osage Community Elks Lodge 2705.
