Beth Luann Nekola, 63, of Chelsea, passed away Friday, July 6, 2018, at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, July 12, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
A private family graveside service will be held at National Cemetery in rural Vining.
Beth was born Feb. 27, 1955, in Grinnell, Iowa, the daughter of Gerald and Joan (Frahm) Hobbs. She graduated from LDF High School in 1973.
She was united in marriage to Gary Nekola on March 29, 1980, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama. Beth was a farmwife, mother and grandmother. She liked college sports, especially the Cyclones, and loved her life on the farm, taking care of her many dogs and horses. Her biggest passion in life was taking care of her children, which she did with endless amounts of love and support. Later in life, her love focused around her grandchildren, who she always looked forward to visiting and spending time with.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Gary Nekola of Chelsea; her children, Treye (Heather) Nekola of Ankeny, Ashley (Shaun) Slinkard of Indianapolis, and Ciara (Brian) Nienhaus of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren, Carter and Noelle Slinkard, Sullivan and Dawson Nienhaus and Harper, Hazel and Hunter Nekola; one brother, Syd (Cristy) Hobbs of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; and nephews, Calvin and Taylor Hobbs of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials will be directed to various animal welfare organizations.
