Swenson, Beverly A.
Beverly A. Swenson, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at The Methwick Community/The Woodlands. Memorial Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Harlan Gillespie and the Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer. Inurnment: St. Paul's United Methodist Church Columbarium. Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church before the service. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Beverly is survived by her son, Steve (fiancee Karen Kleinsmith) of Palo; daughter, Pat (Alan) Coindreau of Georgetown, Texas; son, Jim (Heather) of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law, Cathy Swenson of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell (2009), and son, Carl (2010).
Beverly Ann was born March 31, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Morris and Evelyn (Gold) Beach. She graduated from Franklin High School and then attended Iowa State University. She married Russell Swenson on Oct. 8, 1949, in Ames, Iowa and spent most of her life tending to and caring for her husband and four children.
Beverly enjoyed cooking, reading and loved books. She was a member of the National T.T.T. Society, PEO International, bridge clubs, and was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where she also spent time working as a librarian and secretary.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy or St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
