Shirley Goff, 96, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018, at New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Hampton, Iowa.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018, at the Chapel of Memories, Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m.
prior to the service.
Survivors include Shirley's three children, Patti (Robert) Hudson of Batavia, Ill., Alan (Deb) Goff of Cedar Rapids and Kendra (Nick) Leibold of New Hampton; grandchildren, Jake (Nicole) Goff and Stephanie (Jacob) Ensor; and great-grandson, Liam Goff.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Goff; brothers, Kenneth and Bruce Stahle; and her parents, Earl and Bessie Stahle.
Shirley Alberta Stahle was born Oct. 28, 1921, on a farm near Solon, Iowa, to parents Earl and Bessie (Cavanaugh) Stahle. She graduated high school and met the love of her life, Thomas Goff, and they were united in marriage on Jan. 16, 1944, at Long Beach, Calif., while he served in the Navy. Over the years, Shirley was known as a talented seamstress, along with crocheting afghans and other crafty household items. Baking was another talent, with chocolate chip cookies and Christmas candies being a family favorite. She loved to take walks and to be outdoors. Family was the most important part of her life, demonstrated by her avid support of sporting events and other extracurricular activities her kids were involved in. She will be lovingly remembered as a wife, mother and grandmother.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The American Lung Association in Shirley's honor.
