Karrick, Gregory E.

Gregory E. Karrick, 60, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital. A private funeral service for family will be held.

Survivors include his father, Roger Karrick; stepmother, Jean Shahan Karrick; his sisters, Stephanie Karrick and Beverly Karrick; and his nephew, Keith Karrick Brooks, all of Cedar Rapids; and numerous cousins from Atlanta and Lincoln, Ill.

Greg was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Shirley Mason Karrick in 1966.

Greg was born Nov. 4, 1949, in Lincoln, Ill. In 1967, Greg graduated from Washington Senior High School. In 1980, he moved to Manhattan Beach, Calif., with his sister Beverly and lived in Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach until 1991, when he moved back to Iowa.

Greg loved the beach, the ocean, sunsets and sunrises, he liked being an extra in movies made on the beach, he loved bicycling and cruising “the Strand” in Manhattan and Hermosa, he loved camping in the San Gabriel mountains and ocean fishing with friends.

His fun loving nature and loyalty to family and friends, his laughter and love, will be sadly missed. May Greg's spirit soar with the eagles.

Celebration of life services will be held at a later date.
