JUNE HERBST

June Herbst of North Port, Fla., formerly of Swisher, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 28, 2015, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Services were held at Rooks Funeral Home, Fort Valley, Ga., with burial in the Gassett family lot at Oaklawn Cemetery in Fort Valley.
Born Nov. 23, 1948, in Fort Valley, Ga., June attended Fort Valley High School and Georgia Southern University. She married Gene Herbst on Dec. 22, 1993. She worked at Rockwell and PMX while living in Swisher.
Survivors include her husband, Gene; daughters, Stephanie Black of Hawaii and Stacey Johnson of Hoschton, Ga.; stepson, Chad Herbst of Boise, Idaho; grandson, Caelan Johnson; and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Vittetoe of Cedar Rapids and Sandy Lighthall of Lisbon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Katie Gassett; sister, Kay Maddox; brother, Jack Gassett; and stepson, Ryan Herbst.
