Stickley, Florence M.
Florence M. Stickley, 85, of Winslow House Care Center in Marion, died there Tuesday, July 10, 2012, after a long illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Chaplain Joe Kane will officiate. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Survivors include four daughters, Vivian (Craig) Blair of Marion, Carole (Jerry) Brislawn of Troy Mills, Mary Lown (Lance Johnson) of Milwaukee, Wis., and Debra (Russell) Manson of Manchester; and three sons, Robert and his significant other, Kathleen, David, and Steve (Kathy), all of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and four brothers.
Florence was born Feb. 24, 1927, in Anamosa, the daughter of Glen and Mary Parker Thompson. She married Dale V. Stickley on Nov. 16, 1943, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He died in 1978. Florence was a homemaker but also worked at The Meth-Wick Community as a nurse aide and later at the Spring House as a cook.
Florence was an avid reader as well as enjoyed watching western movies; John Wayne was her favorite cowboy actor. She enjoyed playing the organ, crocheting and especially the time spent with her beloved family.
Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Mercy in Florence's name.
