The Rev. Robert Oliver Sr., 81, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, at his residence. Visitation:
1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Service: 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at Lifeline Ministries Church, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Pastor Tim Pridegon. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his daughter, Cathy Ann Oliver; sons, Raymond Griffin, Calvin Griffin, Robert Oliver Jr., Dwyane Oliver and Terry Oliver; three grandchildren; five sisters, Thelma Robertson, Emma Robertson, Inez Proctor, Mary Mays and Marie Harris; four brothers, Michael Bolden, Paul Bolden, Tommy Oliver and Jessie Bolden; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Katherine; and two brothers, Willie Oliver and Albert Oliver.
Robert was born July 20, 1935, in Alberdine, Miss., son of Floyd and Lillie (Bolden) Oliver. In 1960, he married Katherine Green in St. Louis, Mo. Robert worked for Longview in Cedar Rapids for 25 years and was a pastor at New Jerusalem Church.
He loved to spend time with his family and was very dedicated to the Lord. Robert enjoyed reading, traveling to different churches to speak, singing and playing guitar.
