Kerkman, Mae Frances
Mae Frances Kerkman, 74, formerly of Van Horne, died this past week at her residence following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 5, at Phillips Funeral Home, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton, with Pastor Norm Bennett officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Mae was born Oct. 16, 1935, in Vinton, to Ray O. and Elsie F. (Mease) Dufresne, and graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton. On Oct. 29, 1955, she was united in marriage to Keith G. Kerkman in Van Horne. He preceded her in death in 1979. For 19 years she was employed as a finisher by Amana Furniture in Amana.
Mae enjoyed reading and playing Bingo and she adored her grandson.
She is survived by her sons, Craig E. (Melissa) Kerkman of Taiwan and Bryan K. Kerkman of Vinton; and her grandson, Eric Lee Kerkman of the U.S. Coast Guard, living in Cape Cod, Mass.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
