Glenda Anne Kerkman, 36, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at her residence following a brief illness. Private family graveside services will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton with Pastor Bob Gaston officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton.
A memorial fund has been established.
Glenda was born March 17, 1979, in Cedar Rapids, to Michael D. and Lorraine (Coble) Kerkman.
She is survived by her son, Michael S. Kerkman of Van Horne; her parents, Michael D. and Lorraine Kerkman of Van Horne; sisters, Danielle Kerkman Dobbs of Blairstown and Chrisse (Jeremy) Volesky of Van Horne; her maternal grandparents, Larry and Alice Coble of Hedrick; great-grandmother, Ruth Coble of Dubuque; her nieces and nephews, Joe and Bailey Kerkman of Blairstown and Keaten, Grant and Makayla Volesky of Van Horne; and many aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, H.D. Kerkman and Lois Fresh.
Glenda enjoyed spending time with her son, Mike, and taking him fishing. She also enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her family and many friends. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone.
