Kastendick, Norman Henry
Norman Henry Kastendick, 78, of Iowa Falls, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Nov. 1, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls. Burial: Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls. Visitation will be 1 1/2 hours before the service at the church. Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls in charge of arrangements.
Norm was born Jan. 22, 1933, the son of Henry and Anna (Klein) Kastendick. He graduated from the Alden High School in 1951. He trained as a ranger in the U.S. Army at Fort Benning before heading overseas to serve his country in the Korean War from 1953-1955 where he earned a Bronze Star. He also served as head of the Quartermaster Corps during his service there.
Norm farmed with his father and worked for the USDA. On June 20, 1958, he was united in marriage to C. Jeanne Campbell. In addition to farming, he was a direct pay agent for Wellmark BlueCross BlueShield of Iowa until his retirement.
But above all his accomplishments, his trust in the Lord Jesus Christ was the most important thing in his life.
Norman is survived by his wife, C. Jeanne Kastendick of Iowa Falls; two sons, Kurt and Kent Kastendick; a daughter, Annelise Saint Vincent; and a sister, Lavonne Hoversten.
