Norman H. Biere, 92, of Lowden, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at UnityPoint Hospice-Cedar Rapids. Funeral Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Clarence, by Pastor Tommi Boeder. Burial: St. John's Cemetery. Visita-tion: one hour before the service at the church, with a Masonic service at 1:45 p.m.
Born June 1, 1923, in Jones County, Iowa, son of Henry and Minnie Rix Biere, he married Bernita Muesing on Nov. 25, 1948, at the Little Brown Church.
Norman farmed for many years and also worked at Land of Lakes before his retirement. He was a member of Olin Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years and was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Bernita; daughters, Verlyn Biere (Tom Suhs) of Oak Lawn, Ill., and Donna Biere (Len Thiele) of Geneva, Ill.; grandchildren, Grant Suhs and Todd Suhs; sister, Doris Henderson of Fargo, N.D.; and brothers, Fred Biere of Naples, Fla., and Henry Biere of Anamosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Glenn; and brothers, Howard Biere and Raymond Biere.
