Severinsen, K. Norman
K. Norman Severinsen, 80, died Dec. 18, 2010, in Macomb, Ill., after 38 years with Parkinson's disease. Inurnment services: 2 p.m. May 14 at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Alfred Kaupins officiating. Reception follows at the Family Center.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rosalie; two children and seven grandchildren.
Norman was born Feb. 15, 1930, in Springville, Iowa, to Anker and Kathrine Severinsen. He was a 1948 graduate of Marion High School and received a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in 1960. A Korean War veteran, he taught at Bennett, West Branch, Iowa City and Cedar Rapids. Dr. Severinsen was professor of Counselor Education at Western Illinois University from 1961, retiring in 1988.
