Norman M. Snell, 95, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016, at Manor Care, Cedar Rapids.
Funeral service: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with Chaplain Mike Patterson officiating. Entombment with military rites will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where a Masonic service will start at 4 p.m.
Survivors include his son, Mark (Shirley) Snell of Marion; daughter, Theresa Snell of Marion; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Imogene in 2016; daughter, Shirley Hazelbaker; son, Norward "Bob" Snell; infant grandson, Gregory Scott Snell; brother, Howard Snell; and sister, Glorene Snell.
Norman Snell was born May 30, 1921, in Pine River, Minn., the son of Ray and Freida Snell. On June 16, 1945, he married Imogene T. Winch in Belle Plaine, Iowa. Norman served in the U.S. Navy for 24 years until retiring and was a 50-year member of the Masonic Crescent Lodge 25, A.F. & A.M., Cedar Rapids. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Memorial donations may be given in his name to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1340 Third Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA, 52403.
