Gritton, Norman Walter
Funeral services for Norman Walter Gritton, 64, of Rochester, who died Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Mercy Iowa City, from complications of meningitis, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Pastor Ron Lashmit will officiate. There will be a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery.
Norman was born May 23, 1948, the son of Vearl and Minnie Osborn Gritton, in Rochester, Iowa. He was a 1966 graduate of Tipton High School. On Sept. 3, 1966, Norman was united in marriage to Gracie Arlene Clements in Tipton. He was employed as a road maintenance heavy equipment operator for the Iowa Department of Transportation for 20 plus years.
Norman was involved in the Rochester Labor Day Committee and enjoyed being an announcer for the Snapper City Days Parade.
Norman is loved and survived by his wife, Gracie of Rochester; sons, Loren (Cari) Gritton of Rochester and Lonnie Gritton of Kansas City, Kan.; grandchildren, Steven Gritton and Alicia (Cody) Remley; great-grandchild, Caden Remley; and his brothers, Darrell (Deanna) Gritton and Leland (Karen) Gritton, both of Rochester.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A general memorial fund has been established in memory of Norman.
