Huffman, Nancy Doreen
Nancy Doreen Huffman, 64, formerly of Centerville, Iowa, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at the Solon Care Center in Solon, Iowa.
Doreen was a quiet, well-preserved woman who took life by the horns and helped out everyone who came in contact with her. If everyone “paid it forward,” to just one person, the whole world would be a different place. This modest woman has died at the age of 64 from cancer. Her last wishes were to “ride the bull for eight seconds and to climb the mountain.”
She was a graduate of Indian Hills Community College as a Registered Nurse. She went on to touch many lives with her tender touch and caring hands. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Cincinnati, Iowa. She loved her children and “mothered” many. She was married to Dennis Huffman and then went on to live out the remaining part of her life with Gilbert Rice of Centerville, Iowa. Doreen had the privilege of having three wonderful daughters, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all of those involved in her care, especially her daughters, Deena and Deanna, along with their wonderful husbands, Paul and Wallace. She could not forget her grandchildren, Lacey and Hunter, for all of their love and attention, along with her sisters, Elnora and Billie Jo, but most importantly, her good friends, Pam, Judy, and Wendy. A lot of caring expression goes to St. Luke's Hospital, St. Luke's Hospice of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and the Solon skilled unit in Solon, Iowa, where everyone took such good care of this wonderful woman.
To summarize this wonderful woman's life: it would be to “always pay it forward.” For all of the wonderful and thankless giving that she has given throughout her lifetime to everyone she came in contact with.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at the First Christian Church in Cincinnati, Iowa, with Pastor Kay Singley officiating. Private burial will follow the funeral services. A visitation will be held on Monday at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
A memorial has been established to the First Christian Church and may be given to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, IA 52544. Condolences may be shared online at .
