Haddy, Marjorie J.
Marjorie J. Haddy, 82, has gone home to be with the Lord after a fast, strong and courageous battle with cancer. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at St. George Orthodox Church, 3650 Cottage Grove Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Father Fred M. Shaheen and the Rev. Deacon Edmund Abodeely. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. A Trisagion service will follow at 5 p.m. Visitation is also one hour before the service Monday at the church. Burial: St. George Orthodox Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Marjorie Ealy was born June 29, 1927, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Mary and Edward Ealy. She married George Haddy in 1945 and they enjoyed a great life together for almost 65 years. She worked at Joey's Drive-In as a waitress for many years. Marjorie was a founding member of “Bunco Babes” for over 57 years. She enjoyed bingo and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed the Hawkeyes. She was very active in her church.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; and seven siblings.
Survivors include her husband of almost 65 years, George; her children, Larry (Stephanie) Haddy of Scottsdale, Ariz., Doug Haddy of Cedar Rapids and Lori (Michael) Rott of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Christopher (Patty), Jessica, Erica (Tim), Trina (Rick), Nick (Ashley), Ryan, Jenna, Megan and Kayla; and great-grandchildren, Calvin, Ian, Kyler and Sophia Grace. Also surviving are her sister, Betty Brittain; sisters-in-law, Helen Brammer and Syriano Haddy; brother-in-law, Clark Haddy; and many nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
