Tampir, Arylus M.
Arylus M. Tampir, 85, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Shellsburg, passed away May 24, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Pastor Dale Holloway of Living Hope Wesleyan Church will officiate. Friends may call at the chapel after 10:45 a.m. Tuesday. Inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are her children, Vicki (James) Bruce of Rice, Minn., and Sue Travis of Shellsburg; her stepchildren, Cindy (Thomas) Brennan of Anamosa and Jeff (Cherie) Tampir of Maquoketa; her grandchildren, Kimberly (Michael) McCollow, Valerie (John) Lauermann, Michelle (Brian) Conde, Jeff (Lianna) Bruce, Traci (Carl) Ott and Derek Travis; and her eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dareld; her sister, Marion Eyestone; an infant son and an infant daughter; her son-in-law, Glenn Travis; and her stepson, Michael Tampir.
Arylus Marie Tampir was born Nov. 26, 1926, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Adolph and Viola (Anderson) Larson. She spent many years caring for her family in her home, and later was a Realtor in the Cedar Rapids area. She was united in marriage to Dareld Tampir on Oct. 24, 1980, in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death in 2002.
Arylus enjoyed sewing and quilting and her enjoyment was shared with her family through her many gifts of quilts, table runners and wall hangings. She also enjoyed playing bridge, square dancing and playing the organ.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She will be greatly missed.
