Berger, Evelyn M.
Evelyn M. Berger, 80, of 208 East Railroad St., Norway, passed on peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, on Friday, April 8, 2011. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walford. Pastor David Mosher will officiate. Friends may call at the church from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include five sons, Dave and Mick (Marsha), both of Norway, Reggie of Fort Myers, Fla., Ron of Cedar Rapids and Bill (Amy) of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; two daughters, Cindy Berger of Norway and Kim (David) Mosher of Amana; and one brother, Albert (Dorothy) Grendler of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Lena Hollingsworth; and two brothers, Raymond, and an infant brother, Earl Grendler.
Evelyn was born April 29, 1930, in Blairstown, the daughter of Michael and Elizabeth (Rice) Grendler. Evelyn married Max Berger on Nov. 1, 1947, in Blairstown. He died in 1994. Evelyn worked at Amana Refrigeration and retired from there after more than 27 years of service.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Walford. Evelyn enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, playing cards and especially the time she spent with her beloved family. A memorial fund has been established in Evelyn's name.
