Hiscock, Margaret Frances
Margaret Frances Hiscock, 95, of Iowa City, died peacefully Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Crestview Nursing and Rehab Center in West Branch, following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Zion Lutheran Church in Iowa City. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Lensing Funeral Home, 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Zion Lutheran Church Music Department Fund.
Margaret was born March 27, 1917, on the family farm in rural Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Ed and Polly (Lewis) Jones. She graduated from Williamsburg High School and later went on to graduate from the Paris Beauty Academy in Cedar Rapids. On June 20, 1943, Margaret married Bruce E. Hiscock in Iowa City.
Margaret was a longtime active member of Zion Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed traveling, spending winters in Texas and getting together with family. Her family was always of paramount importance to her and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Survivors include her two daughters, Marilyn Hiscock of Solon and Janet McKee of Williamsburg; two granddaughters, Jody McKee (Carter Johnson) of Coralville and Jessica McKee (Milan Genge) and their children, Maya and Ajay, all of Wilson, N.C.; two sisters, Elizabeth Rice and Mary Martin (Robert) both of Cedar Rapids; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Polly; her husband, Bruce; and her two brothers, Robert Jones and Edmund Jones.
