Norman Wilbur Chase, 57, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at home following a short illness. Memorial Gathering: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Midway, at a later date.
Survivors include his wife, Edith "Edi" Chase; children, Timothy Chase, Travis Chase and Tamra (Brian) Dowd, all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Tyler, Hannah and Liam; sisters, Pat (Tony) Wilson and Donna Connor, both of Cedar Rapids, and Sherry Martin of Waterloo, Iowa; three aunts, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, parents, in-laws and a brother.
Norman was born April 28, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son of James and Jo An (Abernathy) Chase. He was a laborer for Local 1238 and 43. Norman most recently worked at Pearson Education. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during Peacetime. Norman enjoyed hunting, fishing, drawing, woodworking and his family.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
