RICHARD MARTIN Mount Pleasant Richard A. Martin, 72, of Mount Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, at Pleasant Manor Care Center, Mount Pleasant. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Highway 61 south, Burlington, with Mike Yamen officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Kingdom Hall in his memory. A second memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at Kingdom Hall, 6271 NE 14th St., Des Moines. Richard was born June 13, 1942, in Elkhart, Iowa, the son of Royce and Mary Schlenker Martin. He graduated from North Polk High School in 1960 and was united in marriage to Linda Steen. They later divorced. He was united in marriage to Karen Bacon on March 19, 1982, in Mount Pleasant. He worked for Firestone in Des Moines, Ita Drywall in Danville, then opened his own business before going to work for LJ Roth Reconstruction in Olds. In his spare time, he enjoyed going to Old Threshers, riding his motorcycle, going to auctions and being a minister, as he loved people. He attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Fairfield. He is survived by his wife, Karen of Mount Pleasant; his children, Jason Martin of Cedar Rapids, Sara (Paul) Noellsch of Des Moines, T.J. Rice of Mount Pleasant and a stepson, Seth Owen of Iowa City; two grandchildren, Maggie and Zoey; his brother, Dennis (Deborah) Martin of Elkhart; his sister, Georgene (John) Koeppen of Oskaloosa; along with many nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Edward, and one sister, Rose. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.murphyfuneraland monuments.com.
