Cummings, Michael Shawn

Michael Shawn Cummings, 50, of Marion, died in a motorcycle accident Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, in Tucson, Ariz.

Michael was born March 17, 1961.

He is survived by his parents, Richard Cummings and Beverly Stratton; and his older siblings, Barbara Bonsignore, Don Cummings (Eileen) and Vickie Cummings. He has seven nephews and nieces, Lindsay Jacox (Jadd), Sara Dabner (Zach), Justine Obert (Shawn), Jourdan Van Wyk (Dirk), John Tinker, Jenna Floyd and Wyatt Cummings; and three great-nephews and great-nieces, Zander and Kaylyn Obert and Gunner Rice.

Mike loved his three golden retrievers he had throughout his life. They were his travel companions and his family.

Mike lived his life with a zeal that could only be admired. His joy of nature made him a passionate fisherman. He enjoyed traveling throughout Iowa and the western United States, camping and fishing along the way. He was an accomplished carpenter and craftsman. He enjoyed working with his hands and building things.

He was loved by many, always with his friends having a good time.

Mike will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A celebration of his life will be at a later date.
