Genevieve Geneva Meixner, 100, of Tipton passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton. Funeral services to honor her memory and life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 13, at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. Norman Anderson will officiate. Phil Petersen will be the eulogist. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery of Tipton. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials in Genevieve's honor may be designated to Cedar Manor Nursing Home and Apartments.

Genevieve was born

July 6, 1913, in Cedar County, Iowa. Her loving parents were John and Lucy (Witmer) Ford. Genevieve attended rural Cedar County schools. On Oct. 26, 1933, Genevieve married John Frederick Meixner. Genevieve and John had two children, Betty and Rolland. She was a wonderful homemaker and mother all of her years.

Genevieve was a member of the Rochester United Methodist Church in Rochester, Iowa, and UMW. She loved gardening, slot machines, garage saling, crafts, cooking and, above all, family.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty (Gerald) Morris of Tipton; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John in 1983; son, Rolland in 2008; brothers, Frank, Clarence Sr., Lawrence, Peter, Dan, James and Charles; and sisters, Ellen Myers, Bertha Proctor, Violet Pohlman, Viola Gritton and Nellie Schneider.
