Charles was born June 22, 1925, on a farm near New Liberty, Iowa, to William H. and Edith C. (Steward) Wulf. He met his future wife, the former Shirley Fick, at a dance and he knew she was "the one." They married June 22, 1947, and enjoyed nearly 68 years together.
Chuck was a man who loved all aspects of farming. He respected the land and loved working with the animals. He also worked at Caterpillar Tractor, retiring in 1990.
He enjoyed going to fairs and farm shows, gardening and family tree tracing. He was the family historian.
He belonged to the Plus 60 Club, Golden Wedding Anniversary Club, Durant Senior Citizens, Caterpillar Retirees Club, Scott County Pioneer Settlers Club, American Schlewig Holstein Heritage Society and Scott County Historical Society, and was a retired member of United Auto Workers Union 215. He also was a member of American Legion Post 26.
Those left to honor his memory are his daughter, Beverly (Jerry) Rice; son, William (Helen) Wulf; grandsons, David (Robin) Jacobsen, Michael Jacobsen, Jerad "Scott" (Christie) Rice, Eric Wulf and Kyle Wulf; one great-granddaughter, Roxanne Jacobsen; great-grandsons, Zachery (Kellsey) Jacobsen and Dorian Jacobsen; one great-great-grandson and one great-great-granddaughter; four stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Warren and Elaine Fick; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Wulf; and many nieces and nephews, who were very dear to him, including a special nephew, Gordon (Mary) Wulf, who was like another son.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wilbert; sister, Marion, and her husband, Ron Armstrong; and the love of his life, his wife, Shirley, in February.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at ManorCare (Utica Ridge) and Genesis Hospice staff for all its support during this difficult time.
