Delbert Theodore "Ted" Rice, 63, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at Heritage Specialty Care in Cedar Rapids.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton, with Pastor Mike Ferguson officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
"Ted" was born Dec. 13, 1954, in Vinton to Delbert and Christine (Climer) Rice and graduated from Shellsburg High School in 1974.
He was employed at Pepsi Bottling and later at General Mills in Cedar Rapids.
"Ted" was an avid Cubs and Bears fan and enjoyed bingo, scratch tickets and watching sports.
He is survived by his brothers, Larry (Nancy Kirk) Rice of Garrison and Robert (Retta) Rice of Vinton; his nieces, Rilda (Tim) Gustafson of Keystone and Deb (Marty) Hayes of Center Point; his nephews, Denny (Cathy) Rice of Vinton and Brian (Toni) Rice of Indiana; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and one great-great-niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Nicky Climer; his sister, Lois Jean Rice; his sister-in-law, Janet Rice; and his niece, Barb Kessel.
A memorial fund has been established.
