Mildred "Mid" Elizabeth Jordan, 92, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017. Visitation will be from 10
a.m. to noon followed by a noon funeral service on Wednesday, July 19, at Murdoch Funeral home & Cremation Service in Marion. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Midway.
Mid was born to John and Elsie (McMahon) Hoover on Aug. 22, 1924, in rural Linn County. She graduated from Toddville High School in 1942. She married James D. Jordan on Jan. 1, 1948.
Mid was proud of getting her A.A. degree from Kirkwood Community College in her 50s. She worked for Abbe Center in rural Linn County for over 30 years. Mid lived on the family farm for over 80 years.
Survivors are her children, Tom (Deanna) of Ames, Keith (Dee) of Wyoming, Iowa, and Betty of Onslow; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Hoover, Rosita Jordan and Dorothy (Pat) McNiel; four grandchildren, Andy (Lisa), Amy (Ryan) Berry, Shaina (Brian) VanBeek and Cort (Bethany); seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; siblings, Clyde, Mary, Herb and Warren; and great-granddaughter, Savannah.
She will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
