Clara Rose Jordan was born Nov. 2, 1923, in rural Washington County, Iowa, the daughter of Frederick and Mary (Stumpf) Semler. She attended rural school. Clara was united in marriage to Keith Dale Jordan on Feb. 22, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. She worked on the farm with Keith, raised their three sons and later worked at Amana Refrigeration for 23 years until her retirement. Clara enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, working in the flower garden and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Champion Hill United Methodist Church in which she had been an active member. Clara passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Mercy Iowa City at the age of 91 years.
She is survived by three sons, Gene Jordan (Jill) of Parnell, Fred Jordan (fiancee Shirley) of Amana and Jim Jordan DVM (Pat) of Arvada, Colo.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ed Semler of Wellman and Leo Semler of Coralville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2000; three brothers, Joe, Donald and George Semler; and a sister, Dorothy Lemley.
Celebration of Life service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Pastor Edwin Jordan will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Piersol Cemetery, rural North English.
A general memorial has been established.
