Hoskins, Elva M.
Elva M. Hoskins, 89, of 3546 Springville Rd., died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at Jordan's Grove Baptist Church, by the Rev. Steve Russell. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial: Jordan's Grove Cemetery. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include two sons, Jim (Doris) Hoskins of Coggon and Dave (Carole) Hoskins of Springville; a sister, Helen Dillion of Danville, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Helen Hoskins of Oskaloosa; and three grandchildren: Cory (Lori) Hoskins of Springville, and their children, Drew and Dara; Todd (Erin) Hoskins of West Des Moines, and their son, Carter; and Megan (Andrew) Tower of Cedar Rapids, and their children, Luke and Elizabeth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother.
Elva was born Sept. 4, 1921, the daughter of Fred and Minnie (Sowder) Sewell in Rosedale, Ind. On Oct. 31, 1943, she married Ellis Hoskins in Illinois. He died June 16, 2009. Elva was an active member of Jordan's Grove Baptist Church. She and her husband were longtime farmers in the Springville area and she was a 4-H leader.
Elva was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Elva's memory.
