Christian, Harvey Junior

Harvey Junior Christian, 92, of Sun City, Ariz., passed away July 21, 2011.

Harvey was born Jan. 20, 1919, in Springville, Iowa, to Ethel Cashman Christian and Harvey T. Christian. He was raised along with his siblings, Paul Christian, Maurine Levsen, Imogene Smith and Donald Christian, all who have predeceased Harvey.

He spent his formative years attending Springville School and working for many farmers in the Springville area. In 1941, he married Catherine Loraine Dolan, his wife of 53 years (she died in June 1994). He served in World War II. He retired from Teamsters Local 238 as a truck driver, then to occupy his time he spent 25 years with Harglo Farm in Prairieburg.

He had been a 45-year member of the Marion American Legion Post 298. He enjoyed playing cards.

Harvey and Loraine raised three children: Mary Cress, Peoria Ariz., Ronald (Carolyn) Christian, Pocatello, Idaho, and Loren Christian (deceased 1996). He enjoyed his eight grandchildren: Kimberly Robertson, Hiawatha, Kenda Hewitt, Cedar Rapids, Kristopher Cress, Peoria, Ariz., Kenneth Christian, Pocatello, Idaho, Steven Christian, Jerome, Idaho, Gerald Christian, Pocatello, Idaho, Terry Christian, Jerome, Idaho, and Kelisa Cress (deceased 1985); nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

Committal service will be held at the Springville Cemetery at a later date.
