KEVIN MCCALLUM Springville Kevin Keith McCallum, 52, of Springville, died Monday, May 12, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at Springville United Methodist Church, Springville, by Pastor John Keiser. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Burial: Springville, Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Michelle; mother, Sheryl (Rocky) Scroggins; children, Joshua McCallum, Elizabeth McCallum, Austin Corum, Hallie Corum, Evan Corum, Brittney Frisby and Robert Frisby; two granddaughters, Layla and Shawna; sister, Terri (Tony) Robles of Mesa, Ariz.; brother, Tracy (Angela) McCallum of Mesa, Ariz.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father; aunts, Joan Radolff and Betty Simpson; and cousins, Chaz Rodriguez and Jimmy McCallum. Kevin was born Jan. 23, 1962, in Oelwein, Iowa, the son of Keith and Sheryl (Simpson) McCallum. He was married to Lynn Pierce for 16 years. He later married Renie Frisby, and to this union, Joshua and Elizabeth were born. On June 1, 2013, he married Michelle (Satterlee) Corum at Lafayette Salem Church. His family and his children were the main focus of his life. Kevin was a devoted servant to the Lord and lived his faith in everyday life. He never knew a stranger and saw the best in everyone. Kevin was a selfless, hardworking, generous man and he practiced what he preached. He was a volunteer for the Springville Fire Department, Troy Mills Fire Department, Center Point Ambulance Services and was a CPR and first aid instructor. Kevin was an electrician, working with Nelson Electric for 12 years, and most recently with Premiere Electrical Services and was a member of IBEW. Local No. 405. He enjoyed reading, watching movies, camping, canoeing, hiking, hunting and was a Star Trek fan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Kevin's family.
