Springville
Robert "Doc" Merritt, 66, of Anamosa, formerly of Springville, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a brief illness.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at Springville Cemetery. Pastor Carla Burge will officiate at the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jones County Senior Dining.
Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, has been entrusted with the services.

Surviving are his wife, Cindy; his father, Earl Merritt; two brothers and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille, and a sister.
Robert Earl Merritt was born May 7, 1950, at Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids. the son of Earl and Lucille Balik Merritt. Doc graduated from the Springville Community Schools and continued his education at Iowa State University. He worked for John Deere Tractor Works in Waterloo for several years. He was later a service rep for Kuhn Farm Machinery in the Iowa territory. In 1981, Doc started Ag-Land Welding and Repair in Springville.
He married Cynthia Barlow on Sept. 10, 1994, in Cedar Rapids. The couple lived in Springville until 2007 when they moved to Anamosa. Doc loved to grow vegetables and always planted extra to give to Jones County Senior Dining. He also enjoyed spending time doing woodworking.
